NDL 769G
1969 Bristol LHS6L single decker, ex United (formerly the first Newtonian); restored 1984.

Portrait shot at Bents Park, South Shields.

The Bristol LH was light-weight single-deck model produced to satisfy a demand from operators for a design which was straightforward and economical to operate. There were a number of variations from a standard pattern, but most were built to a standard length of about 30 feet and to seat 43 passengers. The usual engine was the Leyland 0.400 six-cylinder horizontal unit, driving through a manual clutch and five-speed Turner synchromesh gearbox. The Newtonian is built to the shorter configuration of the LHS model and seats only 35.

At the Transporter Bridge, Middlesbrough, in company.
This Bristol single-decker served on home terrain for the Society in Newton Aycliffe, where it became known as the Newtonian. It is now part of the Society's active fleet, and has a good turn of speed for visiting distant rallies.

In company with the Bristol L at Newton Aycliffe depot.
